On Monday, a new CNN impeachment poll found that not only has support for impeachment and removal dropped nationwide, but that support has sunk among Democrat voters by double-digits.
Democrats Losing Faith?
“Support for impeaching Trump and removing him from office stands at 45% in the new poll, down from 50% in a poll conducted in mid-November just after the conclusion of the House Intelligence Committee’s public hearings,” CNN reported. “Opposition to impeachment and removal stands at 47% in the new poll, up from 43% in November.”
“Support for impeachment and removal among Democrats has dipped from 90% in November to 77% now,” CNN added.

This news comes in the wake of Real Clear Politics Co-founder and President Tom Bevan reporting on Monday that the new Real Clear Politics average, which takes the top national polls and gives an average, revealed that public support for impeachment was down to 47.3 percent opposing impeachment while 46.7 percent support it.

USA Today’ most recent poll found that “in the wake of combative impeachment hearings, those surveyed oppose by 51%-45% a Senate vote to convict Trump on charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.”
USA Today’s poll also showed “Trump defeating former vice president Joe Biden by three percentage points, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders by five points, and Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren by eight points. In hypothetical head-to-head contests, Trump also led South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg by 10 points and former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg by nine.”
Quinnipiac University released a new poll that showed that Trump’s approval rating tied his previous all-time record, as they also found that the majority of Americans oppose impeachment by a 51-45 margin.
In addition, Quinnipiac noted the president’s strong numbers regarding the economy.
“Registered voters are feeling more positive about the economy than at any time in the last 18 years, as nearly three quarters, 73 percent, describe the economy as either excellent or good, while only a quarter, 25 percent, say not so good or poor,” Quinnipiac reported. “The 73 percent of voters who say that the economy is excellent or good breaks down into 26 percent who say it is excellent, which is a new high, and 47 percent who say it is good. Breaking down the negative side, 19 percent of voters say the economy is not so good, while only 6 percent say poor.”
The Only Outlier is Fox News
Interestingly, the only new poll that seemed refute the many polls that showed that support for impeachment was on the decline cam from Fox News. Their poll claimed 54 percent of Americans wanted to see Trump impeached and only 41 percent did not.

President Trump slammed the poll, tweeting, “The @foxnewPolls, always inaccurate, are heavily weighted toward Dems. So ridiculous – same thing happened in 2016. They got it all wrong. Get a new pollster!”

Regardless, most polls show support for impeachment and removal is plummeting–and so might be the Democrats’ chances come November 2020.
