As the Political Insider’s Alexa reported in April, environmental extremists have been coordinating with Democratic attorneys general in trying to legally attack the free speech rights of those skeptical of the ‘science’ behind global warming.

Alexa defined their efforts as a “sinister attack on free speech rights” and a “danger to all Americans.”

It was such an egregious attack on a fundamental right to freely speak out about things you may disagree with politically and scientifically, that the House Science, Space and Technology Committee issued a statement saying “Americans are entitled to express their views on matters of science and public policy even if certain groups disagree.”

But it is Alex Epstein, President and Founder of the Center for Industrial Progress, who may have provided the best response to the global warming witch hunt, nailing it in just three words.

In an e-mail back to Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey, who demanded 40 years worth of documents from various groups allegedly having ties with ExxonMobil, Epstein wrote simply – “F*** off, fascist.”

That’s what is commonly known as a ‘mic drop.’

Alex Epstein had a terse response to a subpoena sent by Massachusetts Attorney General Maura Healey Wednesday.

Healey demanded the oil giant ExxonMobil hand over 40 years of documents, including information pertaining to the company’s dealings with about a dozen think tanks and trade associations, which have been targeted by environmental groups for opposing left-wing global warming policies.

Healey’s subpoena targeted the Center for Industrial Progress (CIP), a for-profit think tank founded by Epstein. Epstein wasn’t exactly happy about being targeted for disagreeing with Healey on global warming, so he sent the AG’s office the following response:

The entire effort by Healey to investigate the Center for Industrial Progress (CIP) is certainly nothing more than a witch hunt against global warming skeptics. Despite efforts to portray this as a shake down of ExxonMobil alone, the CIP does not receive any funding from them, yet they’re still being targeted.

Lawyers for Exxon have decried the Democrat efforts to stifle free speech “an abusive fishing expedition.”

Kudos to them and Mr. Epstein for fighting back.
