Georgia Gov. Candidate Tells Libs to ‘Get Over’ Gun-Themed Campaign Ad

A new ad from Republican Brian Kemp, who is running for the governor of Georgia, is putting a new spin on the #MeToo movement.

In an ad that only the kooks at the Huffington Post would describe as a “shocking gun ad,” Kemp joked “I’m a conservative businessman with a four-point plan to put hardworking Georgians first,” Kemp said in a tweet Friday when he unveiled the ad. I’m also the proud father of three teenage girls. Here’s the thing: If you want to date one of my daughters, you better have respect for women and a healthy appreciation for the Second Amendment.”

We’re all aware of the common “overprotective father” trope that’s common on television, but the HuffPo seems to think that this is something new.

According to the HuffPo crazies: “some viewers took Kemp’s ‘aw shucks’ attitude in the ad as an attempt at down-home humor (or an “audition” for “Saturday Night Live”) and found it hilarious. But most people responding on Facebook and YouTube were horrified that Kemp appeared to be threatening a minor with a gun.”

Certainly, the HuffPo realizes that if Kemp was legitimately threatening the kid, the video evidence would play out strongly in court, yes? Of course, nobody who actually bothers to watch the ad themselves could come to the conclusion that this was anything other than a joke.

Could one argue that it’s a tad cliche? Sure – but that’s a huge stretch from blasting the ad as “threatening,” “promoting violence,” or “promoting the idea that daughters belong to their fathers,” as various liberals pretending to be disgusted with the ad have claimed.

Kemp’s response to his critics has been fitting: “get over it.” It’s not like the people “offended” were going to vote for him regardless.
