Gary Sinise Finally Gets His Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Gary Sinise, famed Hollywood actor and staunch supporter of our military in both words and deeds, finally earned his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Sinise was chosen not just for some legendary roles throughout his career, but also for his pro-military activism.

One of the few conservatives in Hollywood, Sinise has parlayed his role as a wounded warrior in the film “Forrest Gump” by dedicating much of his life and work to improving situations for our returning veterans.

He is as deserving a man as there is in Hollywood.

Via Fox News Insider:

Sinise starred in several memorable roles, including Lt. Dan Taylor in “Forrest Gump,” Det. Mac Taylor in “CSI:NY,” ruthless kidnapper Jimmy Shaker in Mel Gibson’s “Ransom,” and George in the film adaptation of John Steinbeck’s “Of Mice & Men.”

Playing off his memorable “Forrest Gump” character, Sinise is the frontman for the “Lieutenant Dan Band,” which tours all over the world in support of active-duty servicemembers.

Sinise, 62, was praised at the Hollywood ceremony for his work with the band, as well as the Gary Sinise Foundation, which funds programs to help veterans.

The Gary Sinise Foundation has raised millions of dollars to build smart homes that allow injured veterans to do everyday things you and I take for granted. He has done so much to help veterans live productive and happy civilian lives.

Here he is delivering yet another smart home to a veteran’s family in need …

Even the U.S. Department of Defense couldn’t help but be proud to see Sinise earn this amazing honor.

As was the USO …

Just last month, Sinise was selected for the Association of the United States Army’s highest award for public service: the George Catlett Marshall Medal! It is the highest honor a civilian can receive from the U.S. military.

On a personal note – a few years ago my wife and I had organized a fundraiser for my nephew, who had just been diagnosed with Leukemia. As his father was a pilot who flew military members into and out of Iraq and Afghanistan when they were granted leave, I decided to give the Gary Sinise Foundation a call to possibly donate items for the fundraiser.

They delivered in spades, and at one point even considered setting it up so the Lieutenant Dan Band could play at the event. Unfortunately, a scheduling conflict with his filming for CSI:NY prevented that, but there was never any doubt that he and his organization were serious about doing whatever they could to help out.

The fact that they were so determined to help someone who contacted them out of the blue speaks to the character of Sinise himself, and those he employs in his foundation.

Thank you Mr. Sinise. God bless, and congratulations! You are certainly one of the most deserving men in Hollywood!
