Fauci Still Urging Masks For The Fully Vaccinated In Some Situations

White House doctor Anthony Fauci has urged the use of masks throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. But, now, even for those who have been fully vaccinated, he is still advising those people to wear masks in some situations.

Fauci made his latest comments over the weekend during an interview with NBC News’ Chuck Todd.

Todd said to Fauci, “We know Mississippi … has the lowest vaccinated race rate in the country. You are in Biloxi, Mississippi right now, Dr. Fauci. Would you be wearing a mask?”

“You’re fully vaccinated, but would you be wearing a mask in Biloxi?” Todd added.

Fauci replied, “I think that would be a good reason to do that.”

“I mean because they’re — as we’ve said so often that vaccines are not — even as good as they are and highly effective, nothing is 100%,” Fauci continued.

Fauci went on:

“And if you put yourself in an environment in which you have a high level of viral dynamics and a very low level of vaccine, you might want to go the extra step and say, ‘When I’m in that area where there’s a considerable degree of viral circulation, I might want to go the extra mile to be cautious enough to make sure that I get the extra added level of protection, even though the vaccines themselves are highly effective.’”

10,000 Americans Died In June Due To COVID-19

Todd noted that despite the high rates if vaccinations, almost 10,000 Americans have still died of COVID-19 during June.

The host wanted to know if those deaths were due to some people not getting vaccinated.

Fauci responded, “If you look at the number of deaths, about 99.2% of them are unvaccinated about 0.8% are vaccinated.”

“No vaccine is perfect, but when you talk about the avoidability of hospitalization and deaths, Chuck, it’s really sad and tragic that most all of these are avoidable and preventable,” Fauci added.

Fauci clashed with Republican Sen. Rand Paul going back as far as March over whether or not vaccinated people should wear masks, with the senator insisting they do not.
