Socialist Democratic Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib recently complained taxpayers have not paid the rest of her remaining $70,000 in student-loan debt she incurred to get her law degree.
The far-left Democrat made her remarks on the House floor.
“I worked full time, Monday through Friday, and took weekend classes to get my law degree. And still, close to $200,000 in debt. And I still owe over $70,000 and most of it was interest,” Tlaib said.
The Democrat complained that it was the government “making profit off of me.”
Tlaib added, “We have to stop treating as if folks that are paying for education as if they bought some [expensive] car.”
It should be noted that as a member of Congress, Tlaib makes $174,000 a year. From taxpayers.
This did not go unnoticed.
Commentator Dana Loesch explained that she worked many jobs to pay for her own education.
“I was a full-time student and worked two part-time jobs, three during the Christmas season,” Loesch wrote. “I paid my own bills when scholarships didn’t cover.”
“You chose to enter that debt. We didn’t,” Loesch said. “Stop demanding everyone else pay your bills.”
Twitter user BrickSuit made an important observation.
“Is it just me or if Rashida Tlaib still owes over $70,000 in student loan debt, shouldn’t she recuse herself from any vote that would abolish or forgive that debt?” BrickSuit wrote.
“Seems like a pretty obvious conflict of interest,” BrickSuit added.
Needless to say, Rashida Tlaib didn’t seem to find much sympathy for her student loan “plight” outside of Congress.
