Liberal Celebrities Wore Blue Ribbons to the Emmys to Support the ACLU

Last night, Hollywood elites and Trump-haters gathered in Hollywood for the annual Emmy Award show. Like most televised awards show, this was yet another chance for liberals to virtue-signal and bash our president, all to the cheers of their fellow bubble-dwellers. Host Stephen Colbert took ample opportunity to mock Trump:

Hollywood hacks squealing like seals at low-rate Trump jokes is standard fare for the Emmys. There were, however, a few surprises during the night. First was former White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer making a brief appearance. Second was the prevalence of a certain blue ribbon.

So why were celebs sporting blue ribbons? Were they all still lamenting Hillary Clinton’s loss?

It turns out the ribbon-wearers were showing support for the American Civil Liberties Union, a liberal civil rights group.  The ACLU has long been a favored partner of liberals, defending the “rights” of illegal immigrants and terrorists.

What’s ironic about this show of support is the ACLU’s stance on a recent event: The white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The ACLU defended the organizer of the rally, Jason Kessler, and paved the way for the protest to take place after the town council initially canceled it by revoking the permit. Had the ACLU not defended Kessler, the rally might not have happened and Heather Heyer may still be alive.

And yet celebrity elitists are celebrating the organization. It’s almost like liberals have short memories and a selective sense of outrage.

Given that last night’s Emmys are on track to be the least-watched ever, it looks like most of America failed to see the sanctimonious stunt. If you ask me, they weren’t missing every much.
