Elizabeth Warren Will Drop Out of Presidential Race

Who will Warren endorse? As of now, that remains unclear. She could also choose to endorse no one.

The Rise and Fall of Liz Warren 2020

From the beginning of her campaign, Warren branded herself as a progressive fighting to reform a corrupt system. She rose in the polls over the summer and that success continued into the fall, with many pegging her as a potential frontrunner in the future.

After Democrat rival Pete Buttigieg and others attacked aspects of Warren’s “Medicare-for-all” plan, some of her progressive supporters began to flock to Bernie Sanders and independents. Meanwhile, moderates that might have been drawn to her began to look more at centrist candidates like Buttigieg, former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg and former Vice President Joe Biden.

With a crowded field of moderates, the increasing popularity of Sanders with young progressives and a poor Super Tuesday showing, many wondered about what Warren might do next. There did not seem to be a viable path forward for her campaign.

According to reports, Warren will formally announce her decision to leave the race on Thursday, but again, does she endorse Bernie Sanders or Joe Biden?

Who Will Warren Endorse? There Is No Easy Answer

A Sanders endorsement would please progressives, many of whom are already angry with her for not dropping out before Super Tuesday, which could have given Sanders more votes.

A Biden endorsement would please the Democratic establishment and might even land her a tole with his administration, should he defeat President Donald Trump in November.

That move could also feel like betrayal to her former progressive supporters that have now moved on to Bernie.
