MAGA Republican Lauren Boebert reached out to far-left ‘Squad’ member Ilhan Omar by phone to personally apologize for a recent ill-advised terrorist joke she made at Omar’s expense, which the Republican Representative had publicly apologized for.
The tense phone call devolved into a back and forth, with Boebert demanding Omar apologize for her own incendiary comments.
Instead, Omar hung up, ending the conversation.
The two lawmakers have had a longstanding war of words, but tensions boiled over when, over Thanksgiving break, a video surfaced of Boebert making a terrorist joke about Omar.
The Colorado Republican had said to a crowd that she was on an elevator when a Capitol police officer ran toward them “with fret all over his face.”
Boebert claims, “I said, ‘Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine.'”

Boebert Phones Omar
As The Political Insider reported Monday, Boebert publicly apologized to the Muslim community for any offense they may have taken to the joke and indicated she had reached out to Omar’s office.
“I apologize to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar,” she said. “I have reached out to her office to speak with her directly.”
By Monday evening, contact had been made between Boebert and Omar, but the phone call devolved into demands by each to apologize.
Boebert said that the Minnesota Democrat didn’t feel her public apology was enough, repeatedly demanded more, to which the Republican congresswoman countered that Omar should do the same for her own history of inflammatory comments.
“She kept asking for a public apology so I told Ilhan Omar that she should make a public apology to the American people for her anti-American, anti-Semitic, anti-police rhetoric,” claims Boebert.
“She continued to press and I continued to press back. And then, Representative Omar hung up on me.”

Ilhan Confirms Hanging Up
Omar confirmed that she ended the phone call with Boebert in a statement shortly thereafter. She claimed her own actions were “gracious” by even accepting the call in the first place and insisted, despite the evidence, that Boebert was refusing to apologize.
“Today I graciously accepted a call from Rep. Lauren Boebert in the hope of receiving a direct apology for falsely claiming she met me in an elevator, suggesting I was a terrorist, and for a history of anti-Muslim hate,” she explained.
“Instead of apologizing for her Islamophobic comments and fabricated lies, Rep. Boebert refused to publicly acknowledge her hurtful and dangerous comments,” Omar continued. “She instead doubled down on her rhetoric and I decided to end the unproductive call.”

Boebert did, in fact, apologize in a public statement.
Ms. Boebert will perhaps learn a lesson about apologies to Democrats. They are never accepted – graciously or otherwise – and they never result in Democrats taking their foot off the gas.
.@laurenboebert, NEVER APOLOGIZE TO THESE SAVAGES.
NEVER
Fire and/or ignore whoever gave you that advice.
The second you apologize they smell weakness and move in for the kill.

“I fear an apology isn’t going to stop Democrats from pursuing some sort of punishment for Boebert over the comments,” I wrote in Monday’s column addressing the Omar-Boebert feud.
Sure enough, Omar’s statement concludes with a call to action.
“To date, the Republican Party leadership has done nothing to condemn and hold their own members accountable for repeated instances of anti-Muslim hate and harassment,” she wrote.
“This is not about one hateful statement or one politician; it is about a party that has mainstreamed bigotry and hatred,” added Omar. “It is time for Republican Leader McCarthy to actually hold his party accountable.”
We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity.
We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban.

The absolute gall to complain about a congressional member not being held accountable for “hate” knowing full-well her own resume is densely populated with anti-Semitic and hateful rhetoric, along with stated sympathies for terrorist organizations, is something to behold.
Here are some of the comments and actions she has never been held accountable for:
- Tweeted “Israel has hypnotized the world, may Allah awaken the people and help them see the evil doings of Israel.”
- Said that Jewish lawmakers “have allegiance to a foreign country” regarding their support for Israel.
- Badgered a Jewish diplomat in defense of a Venezuelan dictator, then blatantly lied on the record about his statements.
- Tweeted that US support for Israel was “all about the Benjamins” and when she was asked what she meant, she responded “AIPAC!”
- Is a big supporter of the anti-Semitic BDS movement.
- Traveled with “a radical anti-American and anti-Israel organization” that sides with countries who are foes to the United States.
- Seemingly equated actions taken by the United States and Israel to “unthinkable atrocities” perpetrated by the Taliban and the terrorist group Hamas.
So long as the Democrat Party continues to enable her, Omar will never apologize or express remorse.
Boebert never should have tried to be the bigger woman. It will most assuredly backfire in the end.
