Republican Representative Lauren Boebert apologized to Muslims after a video surfaced showing her making a terrorist joke about Ilhan Omar.

The clip, which surfaced during the Thanksgiving break, shows Boebert relaying a clearly embellished story about an elevator encounter with Omar.

The Colorado representative suggested she and Omar had entered an elevator together when a Capitol police officer ran toward them “with fret all over his face” in an attempt to keep the door from closing.

“I look to my left and there she is – Ilhan Omar,” Boebert claimed. “And I said, ‘Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine.'”

As the crowd cheered, Boebert said: “I looked over and I said, ‘Oh look, the jihad squad decided to show up for work today.'”

“Don’t worry, it’s just her staffers on Twitter that talk for her. She’s not tough in person,” she added.

Boebert Apologizes Over Ilhan Omar Joke

Going against my advice to ‘never apologize to Democrats,’ Boebert issued an apology for the terrorist joke, focusing on the Muslim community.

But, she added, her office had also reached out to Omar to initiate a conversation.

“I apologize to anyone in the Muslim community I offended with my comment about Rep. Omar,” Boebert told Fox News.

“I have reached out to her office to speak with her directly. There are plenty of policy differences to focus on without this unnecessary distraction.”

I fear an apology isn’t going to stop Democrats from pursuing some sort of punishment for Boebert over the comments. And it surely won’t stop Democrats from – hypocritically- continuing to refer to Trump supporters like Boebert as ‘Nazis.’

In fact, just last week, far-left Democrat AOC publicly called Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar “neo-Nazis.”

AOC has not apologized nor received a single chastisement from her Democrat colleagues.

Omar Fires Back

As you might imagine, Omar took the opportunity to claim she is a victim of anti-Muslim bigotry. She also insisted the story was not true and insinuated that it is Boebert who is scared of her.

“This buffoon looks down when she sees me at the Capitol, this whole story is made up,” Omar said. “Sad she thinks bigotry gets her clout.”

“Anti-Muslim bigotry isn’t funny [and] shouldn’t be normalized,” the Minnesota Democrat added. “Congress can’t be a place where hateful and dangerous Muslims tropes get no condemnation.”

Omar said that without a hint of irony, despite her being a leading proponent of hateful and dangerous anti-Semitic tropes.

The latest dustup between Boebert and Omar comes following a House floor speech in which the former accused the latter of funneling campaign funds to her husband and calling her a member of the “Jihad Squad.”

“The Jihad Squad member from Minnesota has paid her husband, and not her brother-husband, the other one, over $1 million in campaign funds,” she said. “This member is allowed on the Foreign Affairs Committee while praising terrorists.”

Omar responded to the speech by saying the Republican lawmaker “defecated” on Congress and called Boebert’s husband a “pervert.”

Omar has called on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to take action over Boebert’s comments.

“Saying I am a suicide bomber is no laughing matter,” she tweeted. “[McCarthy] and [Pelosi] need to take appropriate action, normalizing this bigotry not only endangers my life but the lives of all Muslims.”
