Last night, the Washington Capitals won their first Stanley Cup, defeating the Vegas Golden Knights.

This was a huge victory for the Washington-based team, which has struggled to advance in the playoffs in recent years. With this win, the team will be bringing the Stanley Cup to the District for fans to enjoy.

President Trump, who is never one to be shy about sports, congratulated the team on Twitter:

Popping indeed. One Capitals player has already suggested he won’t visit the White House for the championship celebration. (RELATED: Devante Smith-Pelly Won’t Visit White House If Capitals Win Stanley Cup).

Despite that brewing controversy, folks noticed something strange about Trump’s tweet: he singled out the Russian player, thus revealing his Russophile tendencies.

Take a look:

These people are delusional. It’s not Trump’s fault the captain of the Capitals is a Russian. Is he supposed to avoid naming him because of an ongoing investigation that has lasted over two years and has yet to provide evidence of foreign collusion in the election?

The Russian speculation has gotten out of control. Robert Mueller needs to end his investigation now.
