Huffington Post Poll: Only 25% of Women Believe Kavanaugh Accuser

A vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh as the next Supreme Court justice would’ve been held tomorrow, but Friday is now the deadline for the woman accusing him of sexual misconduct to respond to a request to testify regarding her allegations. The accuser, Christine Ford, initially was willing to testify (according to her lawyer), but now demands a full FBI investigation before doing so. That demand came after the FBI already said the day before that they will not investigate the allegations because they aren’t within their jurisdiction. An FBI investigation of such claims would only amount to collecting witness statements anyway, and every witness identified by Ford has denied the allegations.

Ford today says she’s willing to testify if “certain [unspecified] conditions” are met, according to the Wall Street Journal… which didn’t last long.

Surprisingly, ranking Democrats are defending Ford’s reluctance to testify, presumably because they’re more interested in delaying Kavanaugh’s confirmation than they are in the truth of the allegations.

But is anybody buying it? Surprisingly, a poll from the Huffington Post of all places found that the overwhelming majority of Americans don’t find these 11th-hour accusations credible, and women are less likely than men to believe them.

According to the HuffPo poll: “Nearly half of Americans say they’re not sure if the allegation against Kavanaugh is credible or not ― those who do have an opinion one way or another are close to evenly divided. Thirty-nine percent say that the sexual assault allegation, if true, disqualifies Kavanaugh from serving on the Supreme Court, with 18 percent calling it relevant but not disqualifying, and 20 percent finding it not relevant at all. Sixty-two percent of Hillary Clinton voters, compared to 18 percent of non-voters and just 4 percent of Trump voters, say the allegation is credible.”

Overall, fewer women find the accusations credible than men. Only 25% of women find Ford’s allegations credible, compared to 28% of men.

I have to say, I’m a bit surprised that the number is this low given how one-sided the media’s coverage of the issue has been.

Dianne broaches the letter, no proof is offered BUT Ford tries then to put controlling conditions on the process by demanding the FBI investigate the allegations SHE makes to impugn Kavanaugh!
