Bonnie Schaefer, a member of the DNC’s platform committee and major supporter of Hillary Clinton, openly questioned whether “anyone should have a gun.”
The comments came during a platform meeting on Wednesday to discuss the party’s agenda ahead of the July Democrat convention.
“I do believe that you’re absolutely correct – not just keeping the guns out of mentally ill people and criminals,” Schaefer said. “But I really don’t personally think anyone should have a gun.”
She added, “Nothing is ever solved when you have a gun in your hand except the worst possible scenario.”

A member of the Democratic National Committee’s 15-person platform drafting committee said during a public meeting on Wednesday that she does not believe that “anyone should have a gun.”
Bonnie Schaefer, a former retail executive and a progressive philanthropist, said that more should be done to combat gun violence in addition to “just keeping the guns out of the hands of mentally ill people and criminals.”
“I really don’t personally think anyone should have a gun,” she said.
“That’s just my own philosophy. Nothing is ever solved when you have a gun in your hand except the worst possible scenario.”
Her comments come on the heels of Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton dodging questions on the Second Amendment and refusing to say that the right to bear arms is something granted by the Constitution.
ABC reporter George Stephanopoulos asked, “Do you believe … that an individual’s right to bear arms is a constitutional right?”
“If it is a constitutional right,” Clinton responded, “then it — like every other constitutional right — is subject to reasonable regulations.”
In 2013, Democrats in Hillary’s former senate state of New York accidentally revealed in a document that they too believe that citizens shouldn’t have guns. In that document, anti-gun leftists revealed a wish list which included “confiscation” of all so-called assault weapons, as well as their corresponding magazines. They also wanted gun owner information to be released to the public and monitored in a database.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has warned about Clinton’s views on the Second Amendment.
“She wants to abolish the Second Amendment,” he warned. “She wants to take your guns away. She wants to abolish — just remember that. … If she gets to appoint her judges, she will abolish the Second Amendment.”
As for Schaefer – a woman charged with helping to develop the platform for the Democrat Party, and a woman who apparently thinks the Second Amendment shouldn’t apply to the American people – she was appointed to the platform committee by Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and is a maxed-out donor to the Clinton campaign.
Her views are not isolated. Her views reflect those who appointed her, the party which she now serves, and the person she is trying to get elected.
