Despite Pleas From Nervous Democrats, Squad Member Cori Bush Insists On ‘Defunding The Police’

As Democrats already face an uphill battle in the upcoming midterm elections, one of their own seems to be intent on making that hill higher to climb. During an interview on Tuesday, far-left “Squad” member Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) says she will not stop calling to ‘defund the police’.

Democrats who can see the writing on the wall have apparently asked her to knock it off – and she refuses.

Bush Claims It’s A ‘Misunderstanding’

Bush added that Democrats need to “explain” better what defunding the police actually means. But for many Americans, especially crime victims, the message of moving money from law enforcement resources to social programs, the message is loud and clear.

Most Americans want more spending on police, not less.

Many want the same level of protection that far-left activists like Bush get – after all, she spends big bucks on her own private security while demanding that police be defunded.

Bush’s Fellow Democrats Not Pleased

During the interview on Tuesday, Bush maintained that she is remembering her activist beginnings and will continue to call for defunding the police. This is not sitting well with all Democrats.

Bush says she is “absolutely” feeling pressure from her colleagues to tone it down. “I’ve had colleagues walk up to me” and say that ‘defund the police’ doesn’t help in their districts.”

One colleague in particular, Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA) is running for mayor of Los Angeles and disagrees with Bush. She says that if elected, she will bring the LAPD back to its 9,700 authorized officers. Bass stated to the Los Angeles Times,

“Whether you’ve had your car broken into, your backpack stolen, your property damaged — or you’ve seen news coverage of home robberies, or violent assaults — more and more Angelenos I speak with tell me crime has touched them personally, and they feel scared.”

Just last month, the White House admitted that the large spike in crime seen across the country is partly caused by underfunding the police.

Democrat Rule Of Thumb: ‘Rules For Thee But Not For Me’

Bush showed back in August 2021 just how well she fits in with her Democrat colleagues by having the correct level of stunning hypocrisy when it was revealed that she had spent nearly $70,000 on private security for herself.

Bush’s defense was not much of a defense, just an off the charts level of self-unawareness. Bush claimed that there had been threats on her life, and that she “has too much work to do.”

She added, “So suck it up, and defunding the police has to happen.”
