A highly contentious meeting between the President, Democrats, and the Secretary of Homeland Security yielded little progress as Democrats refused to compromise on border security.
The gathering made little to no headway, as Democrat leaders continue to play politics with the security at America’s southern border.
And, on that matter, President Trump will not relent. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell noted several times that he would not put a measure presented by the Democrats to a vote in the Republican-controlled Senate unless it provided funding for the proposed border wall.
More telling perhaps, was that Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), just seconds into a briefing on border security, interrupted Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen and refused to listen to her concerns.
The President has demanded congressional leaders return to the White House on Friday in an attempt to end the partial government shutdown.
McConnell won’t vote in the Senate until the wall is funded
McConnell reminded Democrats that their measures would not be given the courtesy of a vote because they haven’t compromised on wall funding, and as a result, the President won’t sign the bill.
It would be a waste of time to validate such proposals.

One source told Fox News that the Democrats would be able to negotiate in better faith once Nancy Pelosi is elected Speaker on Thursday, opening the door to a potential compromise.
Still, with that in mind and another meeting on the horizon for Friday, McConnell worried that the shutdown could last “weeks.”

Democrats refuse to compromise
In what is perhaps the most telling sign that the Democrat Party is unwilling to listen regarding the safety of the American people, Schumer interrupted Nielsen’s briefing on the situation at the border within “five or six seconds.”
A White House official separately told Fox News that Trump began the meeting and then turned it over to Nielsen to provide information on the border. Just five or six seconds into the briefing, the official said, Democratic Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer leaned over to Pelosi and suggested she interrupt Nielsen.
“I’m a little disappointed with, I would say, some on the other side,” Rep. Kevin McCarthy lamented. “Once the secretary started, Senator Schumer interrupted her, and they really didn’t want to hear it.”
Note to the media: Remember when it was sexist and misogynistic for a man to interrupt a high-ranking female? Yea, that was less than a month ago. It’d be curious to see if Schumer is called out for the same thing President Trump did to Pelosi.

Pelosi meanwhile has continued to say she and her party will provide no security to the American people.
“We can go through the back and forth. No. How many more times can we say no? Nothing for the wall,” she demanded.
Which side is going to cave first – the pro-America, pro-security, pro-legal immigration White House, or the pro-illegal Democrat politicians seeking more votes on the backs of the American people?
For America’s sake, let’s hope it’s the former.
