Entertainment legend Billy Joel just sent a defiant message to those trying to break into his Long Island home, daring them to try and do so again for a second time after their first attempt last month.
During his show at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night, Joel addressed the burglars directly, daring them to try to break in again.
“I got dogs, lights, guns, everything at the house now,” he said, according to The Blaze.
Joel’s home was broken into at the end of January while he was away performing, and the intruders damaged Joel’s beloved motorcycles as well as a home office at the residence. The intruders broke in by shattering a glass door in his garage, and no suspects have been apprehended since.
“Last time I was here they hit my house,” Joel explained to the audience on Thursday. “I guess everyone knows I’m not home. I got dogs, lights, guns, everything at the house now. I’m hoping they try it again. Come, come! Bring it on! Anyway, everyone is fine.”
It’s safe to say that those burglars will be thinking twice before they mess with Joel again!
This comes months after Joel said that he would not be getting involved in the 2020 presidential election, as he admitted that most people don’t want to hear the political opinions of celebrities.
“I don’t think I’m going to be politically involved. I find a lot of people resent celebrities touting their candidate,” Joel told Rolling Stone. “That can actually turn more people off than it can bring more people in. I admire people like [Bruce] Springsteen, who gets up there and touts a candidate. He’s a citizen and he has a right to do that. My experience has always been that people resent it when they go to see you do a show and you get up on a soapbox and spout politics.”
What a refreshing perspective from a celebrity! If only more entertainers would be willing to put their egos aside and keep their mouths shut about their political views.
