While it’s merely speculation, it’s really fun speculation.
Kid Rock, the hardcore rock and roll President Trump supporter, has had his name brought up in discussions about a potential opponent for Democrat Senator Debbie Stabenow’s Michigan seat.
Along with our report on Ted Nugent’s possible Senate run in Michigan, this makes two rock legends that could face the Democrat in 2018.
Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, was mentioned as a possible candidate at the Michigan Republican Party convention.

A surprising name has been thrown out as a potential Republican contender for Michigan Democrat Debbie Stabenow’s Senate seat next year: Kid Rock.
The rocker’s name came up as a possible candidate at a Michigan Republican Party convention last weekend. There have been no official decisions announced as of yet.
Kid Rock, whose real name is Robert Ritchie, once said he tended to vote Republican but qualified himself as “more libertarian” to Rolling Stone in 2013. But he has supported several major Republican candidates.
The Michigan native threw his support behind Mitt Romney in 2012 and supported Ben Carson in the 2016 presidential election. He later switched to Donald Trump as he became the party’s nominee.
One year ago, Kid Rock hopped aboard the Trump train saying, “I’m digging Trump.”
“Let the business guy in there,” he said. “It’s not really working too well running it not like a business.”
Kid Rock is a dyed-in-the-wool patriot, taking no nonsense from anti-American leftists like Colin Kaepernick. During a concert at Fenway Park in September, the rock legend sent a simple three-word message to the NFL star for his protests over the national anthem.
“F*** Colin Kaepernick!” he shouted during a song titled, “Born Free.”
Rock has even started a line of pro-Trump merchandise that swiftly caused liberals to actively seek out a safe space in which to curl up in the fetal position.
The line of products featured some very strong Trump-themed items, like his signature red hat altered to read “Make America Bada** Again,” and a t-shirt that reads “Gods, Guns, and Trump.”
Michigan was one of the surprise electoral wins for President Trump and could be primed for a conservative star to take the reins in the Senate. Maybe that conservative star will be Kid Rock.
