On Monday, the Washington Post wondered if it could be possible for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to become president if President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence left office.
The WaPo column, written by Robert Atkins and Adam Frankel, speculated that as impeachment moves forward, Trump and Pence could be forced from office over “abuse of power related to the administration’s dealings with Ukraine or other misdeeds.” The columnists did admit the scenario was “far-fetched.”

“The Post piece arises as Democrats have moved towards an impeachment inquiry into Trump’s conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In the conversation, Trump asked Zelensky about a former Ukrainian prosecutor’s investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and his shady business dealings,” Breitbart reported. “Democrats have contended that this amounts to asking a foreign power to interfere with an American presidential election, while Republicans such as Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) have said that this does not amount to a quid pro quo.”

Comparison to Nixon Era and Former Vice President Spiro Agnew
The columnists compared Democrats’ impeachment efforts to former Vice President Spiro Agnew, who ended up resigning over charges of tax evasion. This left the vice presidency vacant temporarily in 1973. If President Richard Nixon had resigned or been impeached during that time, House Speaker Carl Albert would have been sworn in as president.
Both writers believe that since Pence was reportedly a “witness” to the controversial phone call the President had with Zelensky, the “prospect of the House speaker’s ascension is not as remote at is seemed just a week ago.”

Of Course the Washington Post Would Wish for This
Atkins and Frankel said that whatever happens, the current political upheaval America currently faces lies with the president’s “heedless, indulgent, and volatile leadership.”
Did it ever occur to these two that it has everything to do with Democrats’ relentless hatred of this President and their dirty attempts to unseat America’s top elected official?
