Conservative Former Governor Rick Perry Just Got GREAT News!

Rick Perry

What many had assumed was simply a leftist witch-hunt against former Texas Governor Rick Perry is over.

The results? Perry won. Liberals lost.

The governor was charged with misusing his office and coercing a public official in what USA Today described as a “flimsy, two-page indictment.”

Perry’s alleged offense? That he demanded the resignation of Travis County District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg after she pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated, then vetoed funding for a state public integrity unit that her office relies upon after she refused to step down.

They were charges that even some prominent Democrats, such as David Axelrod and Matthew Yglesias, said were unwarranted.

Turns out, they were right.

Via the Daily Caller:

The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals threw out the second and final felony charge levied against former Gov. Rick Perry on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports.

Perry was charged with coercion of a public official and abuse-of-power back in August 2014. The charges stem from the former Texas governor threatening a district attorney who he wanted to resign over an arrest for drunk driving, then vetoing a funding appropriation bill for the attorney’s office.

The coercion of a public official charge was dropped in July.
