Pres. Trump sent shockwaves through the media a couple of days ago with his long list of presidential pardons. Honestly, I didn’t pay attention because the media was making negative news of it, and it was just one of those things.
This morning when I got up and checked my timelines, I saw how failed comedian Chelsea Handler had claimed that Pres. Trump was only pardoning white people.
While our president exonerates criminals and releases them from jail, notice what color they all are.

One note is that he pardoned former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, a Democrat, which was the huge news, and I thought it was funny because of the optics. But along with Blago, he also pardoned author Angela Stanton-King. Now I am not familiar with Stanton-King, her work, or how she ended up needing a pardon, but on Thursday morning, reading one tweet led to another, which led to another, and that’s when it led me to Angela’s timeline who answered Handler’s tweet with this;
I’m BLACK ☝? https://t.co/eIZblVKpWM

I noticed Angela was being congratulated for receiving a “full” pardon from Pres. Trump showing elation, happiness, gladness, sadness, and so much more. I can’t imagine what she had to go through, but she’s on the other side of it, and for that, I can jump for joy along with her.

Angela tweeted: “Anyone notice that NONE of Black media is reporting my Pardon? Tell me again who’s the oppressor.”

Well, consider this my reporting.
After doing some research, I learned that Angela was released from prison in 2005 after serving time for felony embezzlement, theft, and fraud in Georgia prisons. Her life also included being molested at the age of five by a family member, which she attributes to giving her a place of anger later in life that were instrumental in making poor life choices.
Unfortunately, while doing time in prison, she gave birth to one of her children handcuffed to a prison bed and then later lost her mother and grandmother while she was incarcerated.
After all that, Angela has been clean of criminal activity since 2005, but she will admit the road to redemption wasn’t easy.
“I didn’t see the light and I didn’t think that I was going to make it. I had contemplated suicide,” said Stanton. “I’m not going to say it was an easy road.”

Angela has written two books to inspire others, Life Beyond These Walls, which tells stories of women she interviewed during her time in prison who answered what they would have done differently if they had it to do all over again and what advice they would give to young people. Her second book, a memoir, was released in 2010. It was called Lies of a Real Housewife.
It tells her story from childhood and through her last conviction in which she was involved, among other crimes, theft, and insurance fraud schemes.
Angela is a proud woman and a staunch Trump supporter who has written pieces around the interweb dealing with Black Americans voting blindly with the Democratic Party and not receiving results.

During an interview with RollingOut, Angela was asked about her support for Pres. Trump and she answered with the following statement:
The one thing about this Trump fiasco that never set well with me was the fact that everyone loved him until he ran for president. Every rapper, entertainer and actor was chasing a Trump check, then everyone changed on him almost overnight and I thought that was weird so I kept my eyes open. The Trump we see now is the same Trump we saw on “Celebrity Apprentice.” He was the same guy who didn’t bite his tongue and he meant business.

The media has a tendency of manipulating things to show in their favor. Once I saw for myself that this man was serious about preserving Black life and freeing Blacks from prison, I was all in. Does the president say things that aren’t necessarily appealing — absolutely — and so do I sometimes. But do I think the man is a racist? Absolutely not!
How many racists do you know that believe in protecting Black babies and reuniting Black families separated by mass incarceration?
