CNN and MSNBC Beaten in Ratings by Children’s Cartoons

The revolution will be televised – but nobody seems to be watching.

The entire mainstream media is against Trump, backing the so-called anti-Trump “resistance,” but they have greatly overestimated the size of that demographic.

While Fox News continues to regularly post blowout ratings, their liberal counterparts aren’t doing as well. (RELATED: Fox News Channel Posts Huge Numbers In May Ratings). Over 90% of the mainstream media’s coverage (defined as ABC, NBC, CBS) of Trump has been negative – and that’s closer to 100% on explicitly partisan networks, like CNN and MSNBC. Fox News ranked in 1st place in the ratings this past week, while both MSNBC and CNN failed to beat home improvement shows and children’s cartoons.

According to the Daily Caller, “Competitors MSNBC and CNN both struggled to match Fox’s dominance, falling to third and 16th in primetime, respectively. CNN had a horrible week, managing just 669,000 primetime viewers and losing to the following networks: HGTV, USA, Food Network, TLC, Hallmark, and more. MSNBC fared much better in primetime, finishing third behind HGTV with 1.342 million viewers. HGTV and Nickelodeon — home of Spongebob Squarepants — wiped the floor with CNN and MSNBC in total day viewership.”

For Fox, meanwhile, it was their 26th consecutive week holding the title as the most watched network in total daily views. On average, Fox brought in 1.3 million viewers daily this past week. MSNBC averaged 763,000, while CNN had 535,000.

As the midterms approach us, those low ratings certainly don’t signal much optimism from the Left. The wall-to-wall hysterical coverage against Trump hasn’t motivated them to do as much as turn on their televisions, so how could it possibly motivate them to get out and vote?

While we don’t know the exact reason for CNN and MSNBC’s rating decline (though I’ll go out on a limb and attribute it to the fact that both networks are unwatchable), it could simply be because of how desperate their coverage is getting.

Just yesterday, CNN criticized newly appointed Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh for racking up credit card debt to purchase baseball tickets. And it’s not the kind of irresponsible credit card debt you’re thinking of. He made a purchase with credit cards…. which he then paid off the following month like you’re supposed to.

CNN’s Chris Cillizza saw the fact that Kavanaugh both owns and has used credit cards as worthy of an entire news story (that he thinks is damning to the nominee).

Can’t imagine why no one is tuning in!

The more CNN and MSNBC continue to peddle non-stories aimed at taking down President Trump, the fewer viewers they will get. CNN and MSNBC seem more concerned with being the “opposition” instead of actual news networks and have paid the price.
