Charlotte Pence Responds to John Oliver’s “Parody” of Her With Pure Class

Charlotte Pence

Mike Pence’s children have mainly been kept out of the spotlight, but when his 24-year-old daughter Charlotte thrust herself into the spotlight, the Left was quick to attack.

Charlotte Pence released a children’s book last week titled “Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President,” and all the proceeds go towards A21, a nonprofit for stopping human trafficking, as well as an art therapy program at Riley Hospital for Children.

John Oliver decided to parody the book as part of a larger segment on Mike Pence during his HBO show, and notify his audience that his show would be releasing their own book, titled “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver Presents a Day in the Life of Marlon Bundo.” Oliver’s book takes a twist – where the main character (a bunny) meets a gay lover (an obvious poke at Mike Pence’s opposition to gay marriage).

Charlotte herself has never publicly stated her opinion on gay marriage, so I suppose Oliver is assuming anyone with the last name “Pence” must share identical views to Mike Pence? Either way, harassing a Vice President’s child for publishing a book raising money for human trafficking victims is a bizarre way to “stick it” to Mike Pence, and that’s just what Oliver’s fans did.

Thousands of Oliver’s fans rushed to Amazon following the show to give “1-star” reviews of Charlotte’s book. Eventually, Amazon had to step in and delete all reviews from users who didn’t purchase the book.

The response from Charlotte though has been nothing short of pure class.

She hasn’t shied away from the media following the harassment from Oliver’s fanboys and was oddly accepting of Oliver’s parody book.

According to the Washington Free Beacon, during an interview with Fox Business, Charlotte Pence seemed to take the parody in stride. “I think imitation is the most sincere form of flattery,” she said. “Also, in all seriousness, his book is contributing to charities that I think we can all get behind. We have two books that are giving to charities that are about bunnies, so I’m all for it.”

Pence continued to comment about the competing books on Twitter:

Liberals couldn’t get under Mike Pence’s skin, so they tried to get under the skin of one of his daughters. How much lower will they go next time?
