Black Lives Matter appeared to have gotten a big lesson in political expediency on Tuesday night. During his State of the Union speech, President Joe Biden urged funding of the nation’s police departments.
Biden stated, “We should all agree: The answer is not to defund the police. The answer is to FUND the police with the resources and training they need to protect our communities.”
You could almost hear the air being let out of the far-left’s balloon.
But if you didn’t, they were happy to let you know about it:
In an amazing reversal, Democrats cheered Biden’s call to fund police as if they had never heard of defunding the police. They cheered things like providing resources and training. Who are these people and what have they done with the Democrat Party?
Vice President Kamala Harris, who urged people to contribute to the Minnesota Freedom bail fund – a fund that sought to free rioters during George Floyd demonstrations in 2020, was now popping up out of her seat to applaud funding police.
Democrats applauding police? What has changed?
Certainly nothing has changed for Black Lives Matter. They made it clear that not everyone agrees with Biden’s call to fund the police:
Other far-left figures are just as displeased with Biden.
Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) was perturbed that Biden had not once mentioned “saving black lives.”
She again demanded “defund.”
Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson also chimed in saying that the police are funded enough:
Far-left MSNBC favorite Elie Mystal decided he would just let it all hang out.
Many supporters of BLM also took to social media to call out Joe Biden.
And unfortunately for Democrats in a midterm election year that no one has predicted will be good for them, some folks may be catching on.
As Democrats tried to quickly pivot the narrative in an election year, Republicans were quick to remind them of their massive hypocrisy.
Republicans also called out Democrats sudden change of heart for exactly what it is.
Some thought they might have spotted a pattern in Democrat thought.
But as we all watch Democrats applaud Joe Biden wanting to fund the police, let’s all keep in mind the last two years. Amazing what an upcoming election can do.
