Former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly is finding himself in legal trouble again.
Earlier this year, O’Reilly was fired from the top spot of Fox News’ evening lineup after the New York Times reported that the network had paid out millions of dollars to settle sexual harassment cases against the popular host.
Since then, O’Reilly has steadfastly maintained his innocence, saying the charges against him were really a liberal witch hunt. Now it looks like those statements are coming back to bite him in the behind.
The New York Times just reported that one of the women whom O’Reilly settled sexual harassment claims with is suing him – again. This time, it’s for defamation and breach of contract.
From the report: “A woman who reached a settlement with Bill O’Reilly over harassment allegations sued Mr. O’Reilly and Fox News on Monday for defamation and breach of contract, saying that public statements he and the network made violated the settlement and portrayed her as a liar and politically motivated extortionist.”

The woman, Rachel Witlieb Bernstein, is one of the six women who accused O’Reilly of sexual harassment. She was an employee of Fox News, and, by her account, she was forced out after O’Reilly made sexual advances towards her and paid to cover it up.
Bernstein’s lawyer said the following in a statement: “Knowing Ms. Bernstein and Mr. O’Reilly’s other victims are afraid to speak out because he and Fox forced them to sign nondisclosure agreements, O’Reilly and Fox have made false and disparaging claims. They should release all victims from their NDAs and let the truth out. It is cowardly to publicly attack these women knowing they have been subjected to contractual provisions requiring absolute silence.”
For months, there have been rumors that O’Reilly could still make a return to television. While a deal with One America News network fell through last summer, there is talk that a potential partnership with Sinclair Broadcast Group is in the works.
The latest legal trouble may spike that deal, however.
