Biden: Once Kids Get Vaccinated ‘Families Will Be Able To Sleep Easier At Night Knowing Their Kids Are Protected’

Biden Says Once Kids Get Vaccinated ‘Families Will Be Able To Sleep Easier At Night Knowing Their Kids Are Protected’

On Thursday, President Joe Biden promoted his drive to vaccinate children ages five through eleven with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Biden said, “Now I know parents out there are anxiously waiting for a vaccine for children ages five to eleven. The good news is the FDA and outside experts from the CDC are set to make this determination as to whether the vaccine will be authorized for that age range in the next few weeks.”

Biden: Kids will be ‘able to sleep easier at night knowing their kids are protected’

“If authorized, we are ready,” Biden said. “We have purchased enough vaccines for all children, between the ages of 5 and 11, in the United States.”

That’s when the president added that he thinks parents will be at ease more after their small children are vaccinated.

“It will be convenient for parents to get their children vaccinated at trusted locations, and families will be able to sleep easier at night knowing their kids are protected,” Biden added.

Biden’s policies stand in stark contrast to those of the UK, where scientists are not backing vaccinations for those between 12 to 15 years old.

The BBC reported in early September, “The JCVI said children were at such a low risk from the virus that jabs would offer only a marginal benefit.”

“The decision not to recommend the vaccine to all healthy children was based on concern over an extremely rare side effect of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines which causes heart inflammation, and can lead to palpitations and chest pain,” BBC reported.

Thew British news outlet added, “Data from the US, where millions of young teenagers have been vaccinated, suggests there are 60 cases of the heart condition for every million second doses given to 12 to 17-year-old boys (compared to eight in one million girls).”

Vaccines are available in the UK for children but are not mandatory.

Recent polls have shown more mixed opinions on children and Covid vaccines than the narrative Biden presented.

A very recent CBS News/YouGov poll conducted between October 6-8 showed that among those who were unvaccinated, 61 percent of parents were against vaccinating their children ages 5-11.

For parents who were vaccinated, 61 percent indicated that they would vaccinate their children in that age group.

Polls show almost as many parents don’t want their kids vaccinated as those who do

At the end of September, a Gallup poll showed that almost a majority of parents, 45 percent, were against vaccines for children under 12.

Still, the White House is full speed ahead with its plans, telling governors to expect children as young as five to get vaccinated.

NBC News reported. “The Biden administration has purchased 65 million pediatric doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine, enough to vaccinate the estimated 28 million children who would be eligible should the Food and Drug Administration approve Pfizer’s request to vaccinate children ages 5 to 11, said an official of the Department of Health and Human Services.”
