CNN of all places reported that President Biden has spent a quarter of his presidency working from his home state of Delaware, a rate that exceeds that of former President Donald Trump.

The tally conducted by the network’s analysis amounts to 55 visits to the Blue Hen state for Biden – either to his house in Wilmington or his Rehoboth Beach property – amounting to 174 days overall.

That number works out to over 27% of his presidency being spent away from the White House.

The CNN report adds that Biden has also spent “all or part of 64 days” at the Camp David presidential retreat in rural Maryland.

They also note that Biden’s time at home far surpasses that of Trump at this point in his presidency, something the former President was heavily criticized for.

“He has now surpassed even the getaway time of former President Donald Trump, so often criticized by Democrats for his regular departures from the White House to stay at one of his personal homes,” CNN writes.

Trump had spent about 135 days at Mar-a-Lago or at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.

Visitor Logs Shrouded in Secrecy

Earlier this month, an exclusive report by the New York Post indicated that the Secret Service has been unable to locate any records of visitor logs while President Biden is staying in Delaware.

The Post filed multiple Freedom of Information Act requests regarding the visitor logs and found the response “baffling.”

“The Secret Service says it checked again and still can’t find any records that identify visitors to President Biden’s Delaware residences,” they wrote.

The Secret Service’s refusal to provide visitor logs led Rep. James Comer (R-KY) to fire back, “The claim that there are no visitor logs for President Biden’s Delaware residence is a bunch of malarkey.”

Comer also pointed out that the visitors to Biden’s Delaware homes are relevant since “we know that he routinely met with Hunter’s business associates during his time as vice president.”

In 2017, White House officials under then-President Trump announced it would be keeping most of their visitor logs secret, citing “the grave national security risks and privacy concerns of the hundreds of thousands of visitors annually.”

President Biden directed the National Archives to send the visitor logs from the Trump era to the House select committee investigating the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

Perhaps the next President will release the Biden visitor logs in 2024.

“Trump’s trips to Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster were fodder for op-eds and lent themselves to critics painting a portrait of a president unwilling to give up the trappings of a luxe off-duty lifestyle,” CNN admits.

White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates defended Biden’s time spent in Delaware as keeping in touch with “his roots and his family.”

Added Bates, “As all Americans can agree, it’s important for leaders to avoid becoming ensconced in Washington, D.C.”
