Liberals Immediately Wish Harm on Rand Paul Over Brief Shutdown

President Donald Trump signed a major budget deal into law early this morning, just five-and-a-half hours after Congress voted to end a brief government shutdown overnight.

The shutdown was ended when the the House of Representatives voted 240-186 for the budget deal. Seventy-three House Democrats voted in favor of the plan, while 67 Republicans voted against it.

There was only a shutdown in the first place because Rand Paul is the only fiscal conservative left in the Senate. He delayed the Senate’s vote on the spending bill needed to keep the government open past midnight, forcing a shutdown.

“When Republicans are in power, there is no conservative party” Paul declared during his drawn-out speech, citing the $300+ billion the spending bill would add to the deficit. That didn’t appear to be a concern for other Senate Republicans, though.

As Rand spoke to promote fiscal responsibility, one of his faux-conservative colleagues thought to himself “you know what? Maybe it’s great that Rand was once randomly assaulted by his neighbor after all!”

“When Rand Paul pulls a stunt like this, it easy to understand why it’s difficult to be Rand Paul’s next door neighbor,” Rep. Charlie Dent said to Politico.

And no shortage of liberal kooks on Twitter wished the same:

It was mostly random internet idiots quoted above, but singer Bette Midler was among them, to her audience’s disappointment.

Rand’s injuries were much more serious than initially reported. He told MSNBC earlier in the month, “I had six fractures, three of them displaced. The bones will never be straight, they’ll sort of heal in a crooked fashion now. Every time I move you feel the bones grinding on the bone, and so, I’m feeling better but I still struggle with it.” Paul also said he’s since had pneumonia twice due to his injuries.

His neighbor who assaulted him faces a $250,000 fine, and up to 10 years in prison.
