Why Did Ben Carson Make This Goofy Claim About China?

China

During the GOP Presidential debate, Dr. Ben Carson was questioned about President Barack Obama’s decision to send special operations forces into Syria on a train-and-advise mission. Carson called Syria “a very complex place.”

“You know, the Chinese are there, as well as the Russians, and you have all kinds of factions there,” Carson added.

Thursday, the White House responded to this claim by Carson and it wasn’t what he wanted to hear. National Security Adviser Susan Rice told reporters that she doesn’t know what Carson is talking about.

“I really can’t speak to what he was referring to, but unless you’re talking about having a diplomatic presence I’m not sure what he was referencing,” she said, appearing puzzled by the question. “I have not seen evidence of Chinese military involvement in Syria.”

I wonder why the Chinese only let Ben Carson in on this secret?

China

But the Carson camp doesn’t seem to be backing away. Carson’s business manager, conservative pundit Armstrong Williams, told MSNBC Wednesday that the Carson campaign has its own intelligence from “people who are on the ground who are involved in that region of the world.”

“From your perspective and what most people know, maybe that is inaccurate,” he said. “Now just because the mainstream media and other experts don’t want to see any credibility to it, does not mean some ways down the line in the next few days that that story will come out and will be reinforced and given credibility by others. But as far as our intelligence and the briefings that Dr. Carson’s been in, that and I have certainly been in with him, we’ve certainly been told the Chinese are there.”

China has said it has no plans to get involved militarily in Syria.

I guess Susan Rice, our intelligence community, our spy satellites, and the entire world’s foreign media missed the Chinese warships go through the Suez canal and then park at the port city of Tartous, Syria.

I don’t usually side with the White House on “anything,” so I am angry I have to break my streak! I think Dr. Carson should get to a point he can prove with factual evidence before spouting out that information like that.
