Barack Obama Trashes American Gun Laws in Speech on Foreign Soil

It was just days ago that Democrats were explaining that criticizing an American entity on foreign soil was beneath the dignity of a president. Let’s see if that holds true now.

Barack Obama, speaking at a digital convention in Sao Paulo, Brazil, trashed American gun laws as being nonsensical and insisted anybody “can buy machine guns.”

“Gun laws in the United States don’t make much sense,” the former president said. “Anybody can buy any weapon, anytime without, you know, without much if any regulation. They can buy over the Internet. They can buy machine guns.”

Obama led with a discussion of the Sandy Hook shooting, calling it “the hardest day of my life.”

It was a tragic day for everyone when 20 children and 6 adults were gunned down. But the Democrat did little to tackle the real issue in response – addressing mental health issues and improving screenings of that nature.

Instead, Obama made a backdoor pitch to limit the freedoms of the Second Amendment, issuing 23 executive orders to push stricter federal gun control laws.

Trump’s Solution

By contrast, President Trump has advocated for stronger efforts on mental health screenings as a means to prevent violence in schools.

“We want to strengthen our mental health laws and procedures,” he remarked during a cabinet meeting. “So important.  I think it’s probably the most underrated element of what we’re doing, but it might be — it might be the most important.”

He also championed STOP School Violence grants, saying they help “local schools and police departments to hire more officers, train more teachers, and address early warning signs of mental illness.”

This approach to stopping school shootings is the right way to go without disarming law-abiding citizens, and it may very well have prevented tragedies like Sandy Hook or the attack at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

Obama is Lying

Not only is Barack trashing the Second Amendment in Brazil, but he’s being completely dishonest to the crowd in attendance.

Stephen Gutowski of the Washington Free Beacon explains that obtaining a machine gun is not as easy as Obama asserts. In fact, it’s pretty difficult, time-consuming, and expensive.

“In practice, while there are several hundred thousand legally-registered fully-automatic firearms in the US, they’re very hard to obtain,” Gutowski explained. “Beyond the registration process, which can take up to 9 months to complete, the price of fully-automatic firearms is extremely high.”

But that’s not the only time Obama has lied – SHOCKER! – about gun laws in America. The Washington Post called him out for a bizarre claim “that it is easier for a teenager to buy a Glock than get his hands on a computer or even a book.”

It also seems remarkably odd that his latest comments were designed to criticize America, especially in light of the fact that he was speaking in Brazil, a country that recently passed laws making it easier for people to obtain guns.

“President Jair Bolsonaro of Brazil signed a decree on Tuesday making it easier to buy guns,” the New York Times reported, “and signaling he will follow through on his campaign promise to tackle the country’s epidemic of violence by arming the ‘good guys’ and crushing violent drug gangs.”

Arming the good guys and disarming the bad guys. Where have we heard that concept before? Oh yes …

Now that makes sense!
