Anthony Weiner Reports to Prison

Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

Over the past six years, disgraced congressman Anthony Weiner has destroyed every opportunity he’s been presented with, which is tragic when all he had to do to preserve his reputation is not send pictures of his private parts to women (and teenagers) he met online.

The tale of Weiner is as sordid as they come. After originally being outed for his “sexting” behavior in 2013, Weiner resigned as a lawmaker. His career went dark until he attempted to make a comeback by launching a campaign in 2013 to become mayor of New York City. After initially polling well, Weiner was hit by yet another sexting scandal. Because a documentary crew was filming the Weiner campaign 24/7 for the 2016 film “Weiner,” the footage of the exact moment Weiner and wife Huma Abedin learned the scandal hit public was caught in real time. It’s truly bizarre watching their robotic reaction to the situation they knew what was about to unfold:

And, of course, the third times the charm. In July of 2016 the New York Post reported that Weiner had sexted another woman, sending one picture while lying in bed with his young child. The next day, the New York Times reported that the two intended to separate.

And that was only the beginning of Weiner’s problems. In September of 2016, the Daily Mail published an article alleging that Weiner had engaged in sexting with a 15-year-old-girl – allegations that later proved to be true, and worthy of charges. By January 2017, the Wall Street Journal reported that federal prosecutors were weighing bringing child pornography charges against Weiner.

That eventually led to a sentence of 21-months in federal prison, with three years supervised release. Weiner is set to report to prison today at Devens Federal Medical Center in Massachusetts. Weiner’s lawyer came close to begging the judge not to send him to Brooklyn’s notorious Metropolitan Detention Center because Weiner was reportedly “freaked out” over how the prisoners would treat him due to the “pedophile” label.

We wish Weiner well in prison and hope the time he serves will ween him off of his sexting addiction.
