Racially Charged Roy Moore Flyer Goes Out in Alabama

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

And with Doug Jones currently trailing Roy Moore for a Senate seat in Alabama, his campaign is pulling out all the stops. Including – you guessed it – the good ol’ race card, a staple of the Democrat Party since, well, the Civil War when they were fighting a Republican President who wanted to abolish slavery.

When you see this flyer, keep in mind that somebody at the Doug Jones for Senate Committee thought this was a rock-solid idea.

Yikes! Somebody signed off on that? What were they thinking?

Ironically, the very community they appear to have been targeting thinks the flyer is insensitive and out of touch.

Michael Harriot, a writer for the African-American culture website ‘The Root,’ wrote that “it has upset black voters across Alabama.”

“Someone, probably a white man, thought that the image would resonate with black people and motivate them to get out the vote,” Harriot wrote.

The Jones camp has been grasping at straws of late, trailing in recent polls to Moore despite multiple allegations of sexual misconduct being hurled at the Republican. Moore grabbed the President’s full endorsement earlier this week as well.

Backlash on social media to the new campaign flyer was swift, mostly from people criticizing the Jones campaign for an insulting outreach effort to black voters.

A Huntsville television station has confirmed that the flyer did indeed come from the Jones camp.
