On Thursday, far-left Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took a shot at Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, saying that the Georgia Republican was similar to the “kinds of people that I threw out of bars” and accused Greene of racism.
AOC’s remarks came after Greene challenged the Democrat to a debate on the “Green New Deal” outside of the House chamber.
Ocasio-Cortez told reporters, “I used to work as a bartender. These are the kinds of people that I threw out of bars all the time.”
“For me, this isn’t even about how I feel,” AOC added. “It’s that I refuse to allow young women, people of color, people who are standing up for what they believe, to see this kind of intimidation attempts by a person who supports white supremacists in our nation’s Capitol.”
The far-left ‘Squad’ member didn’t elaborate on what “supporting white supremacists” means.
Greene reportedly created controversy when she and AOC left the House floor on Wednesday, when a Washington Post story claimed that the Republican shouted at Ocasio-Cortez.
According to reports, Greene challenged AOC to a debate about her environmental policies, and yelled, “Hey, Alexandria,” repeatedly. AOC reportedly ignored Greene.
“You don’t care about the American people,” Greene reportedly said to Ocasio-Cortez. “Why do you support terrorists and antifa?”
The report claimed that after AOC left, Greene called her a “radical socialist” and a “chicken” who refuses to “debate the Green New Deal” with her.
The WaPo report comes in the wake of another report that Greene has publicly challenged Ocasio-Cortez to a debate over her “Green New Deal.”
Greene pushed back on Ocasio-Cortez’s “bar” comments on Thursday.
“So she throws out paying customers,” Greene said to a reporter. “Is that how she feels? She throws out paying customers, is what she’s saying?”
Greene continued, “You know, it would be nice if they would treat us civilly. But ever since Jan. 6, they can’t even treat us with respect. And we were just as much as victims of the riot here, too.”
“We didn’t cause it,” Greene insisted. “All these lies that they say on and on and on. You know, they need to be civil. None of them are civil to me.”
“I was telling her, you need to debate me, you need to defend your policy,” Greene added. “There is nothing wrong with that.”
