After Fauci’s Book Is Pulled From Amazon, Rand Paul Says: ‘They Should Publish It. I Love Science Fiction’

On Thursday, it was reported that an upcoming book from White House COVOD-19 task force doctor Anthony Fauci was no longer listed at Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Sen. Rand Paul, who has become something of a nemesis to Fauci, tweeted in response, “Oh, I don’t know. I think they should publish it. I love science fiction.”

The listing for Fauci’s new book, “Expect the Unexpected: Ten Lessons on Truth, Service, and the Way Forward,” being scrubbed comes in the wake of a major dump of  the doctor’s emails being shared publicly due to the Freedom of Information Act. 

The publisher responded to this by saying, “The book was prematurely posted for pre-sale, which is why it was taken down.”

“The book was developed by National Geographic Books in connection with an upcoming National Geographic Documentary Film about Dr. Fauci,” the publisher noted. “He will not earn any royalties from its publication.”

Paul has been a frequent sparring partner of Fauci’s. When Fauci’s private emails were published this week, causing controversy, Paul tweeted, “Told you.”

 

The senator added, “Can’t wait to see the media try to spin the Fauci FOIA emails.”

Paul told Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Thursday that “if it turns out this virus came from the Wuhan lab,” that there’s “a great deal of culpability in that he was a big supporter of the funding,” something Fauci has denied.

“He also was a big supporter to this day of saying we can trust the Chinese on this, we can trust the Chinese scientists,” said Paul.

The senator added, “And I think that’s quite naïve, and really should preclude him from the position that he’s in.”

Paul On Wuhan Lab Theory

When Ingraham asked Paul if there could be “criminal culpability” for Fauci, Paul replied, “At the very least, there’s moral culpability.”

Paul had questioned Fauci in May about the National Institute of Health (NIH) reportedly funding the Wuhan lab’s gain-of-function research, a long-rumored potential origin of the COVID-19 virus.

“Dr. Fauci, do you still support funding of the NIH funding of the lab in Wuhan?” Paul asked the doctor.

“Senator Paul, with all due respect, you are entirely, entirely and completely incorrect,” Fauci replied.

Fauci added, “The NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan Institute of Virology.”

A FactCheck.org analysis said of the “disagreement” between Paul and Fauci over potential NIH funding of the Wuhan Lab for alleged gain-of-function research, “The answer to the question of whether it did or didn’t depends on whom you ask and their definition of gain-of-function.”
