Jussie Smollett, the left-wing Empire actor who infamously fired up the resistance movement by fabricating a politically-motivated hate crime hoax, has been found guilty on five charges of staging the attack and lying to police.
As we’re sure you’re aware by now, Smollett said he was assaulted by Trump supporters for being gay and black while his assailants were white and used slurs. The attack, he would claim, took place outside a Subway restaurant in Chicago at 2 a.m in the middle of a polar vortex.
The cherry on top of the hate hoax was Jussie Smollett’s claim that the assailants yelled “this is MAGA country” during the attack.
None of it happened.
He conducted a national television audience interview and cried – no, wept – over the attack. But it didn’t happen.
The charges Jussie Smollett has been found guilty of are Class 4 felonies that carry a prison sentence of up to three years.
In reality, it’s quite likely he will be placed on probation and given community service. He deserves jail time – nothing excessive – but some form of punishment not just for wasting the time and resources of the police, but for stirring up racial animus throughout the country.
Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson asked the obvious question during his opening segment Thursday night.
“How did anyone anywhere ever fall for this story even for a moment?” he asked.
“Looking back, particularly in retrospect, it was maybe the most obvious hoax ever perpetrated.”
Carlson, however, is being kind when he assumes anybody actually fell for the Jussie Smollett hate crime hoax. They didn’t.
Democrats didn’t fall for it. The media didn’t fall for it. They knew it was a lie and they just didn’t care.
Because the Jussie Smollett hoax gave them a couple of weeks and months to pretend that America is racist. And they’re racist, in their minds, because of former President Donald Trump.
That was the narrative they wanted to push from day one of his presidency. Jussie Smollett just provided the match and the gasoline to spread the racial fire.
Here is a long list of Democrats, media entities, or entertainers who pushed the Jussie Smollett hoax. It is exhaustive, but by no means complete.
Now is the time to support and share the sources you trust.
