Reuters reports that over 100 former Republican officials will threaten to create a third party if the GOP fails to “break” with Donald Trump.
“When in our democratic republic, forces of conspiracy, division, and despotism arise, it is the patriotic duty of citizens to act collectively in defense of liberty and justice,” the New York Times states.
“The Republican Party is broken,” said Miles Taylor, one of the organizers behind the letter said. “It’s time for a resistance of the ‘rationals’ against the ‘radicals.'”
Taylor, you may recall, lied about his low-level administration position to publish an anonymous opinion piece in the New York Times admitting he was “part of the resistance inside the Trump administration.”
A letter from the group, headlined “A Call For American Renewal,” will reportedly be released on Thursday, one day after House Republicans ousted anti-Trump Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) from her leadership role in part due to her incessant criticism of Trump and his supporters.
More than 100 Republicans, including some former elected officials, are preparing to release a letter this week threatening to form a third party if the Republican Party does not make certain changes, according to an organizer of the effort. https://t.co/K6ANeMEO7Z

Over 100 Republicans Set To Quit the Party
While not all signatories are mentioned, the names thus far revealed are a who’s who of “Never Trumpers” with the word “former” in their title.
Names such as former independent presidential candidate Evan McMullin, former Republican Governors Tom Ridge and Christine Todd Whitman, along with former Transportation Secretary under George W. Bush, Mary Peters, have emerged as supporters of the movement.
McMullin told Reuters that if the GOP doesn’t break with Trump, part of it “will have no choice but to part ways with it and build something new.”
None of these individuals currently hold any relevance in today’s Republican Party. They are lost souls consumed by their own false sense of self-worth.

NeverTrump Will Lose
The irony here is that the only chance of starting a successful third party would be one headed by a President Trump.
A poll shortly after the Capitol protest in January – the breaking point for a good portion of these Never Trumpers – showed a vast majority of Republican voters do not hold Trump responsible for the actions of the crowd, and believe he had a right to challenge the election.
Another poll in February indicated an overwhelming percentage of Republican voters would join a new political party established by Trump.

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump, wrecked the relatively small group threatening to leave the GOP.
“These losers left the Republican Party when they voted for Joe Biden,” he tweeted.

George W. Bush himself has been advocating for a new kind of Republican candidate to run in 2024. One with pro-gun control and pro-amnesty views.
Bush, according to Politico, is seeking a Republican nominee who supports “reasonable gun reform measures” and “a path to citizenship for undocumented workers” in the next presidential election.
How would you describe the Republican Party today? –@hodakotb
I would describe it as isolationist, protectionist, and to a certain extent, nativist. -Former President George W. Bush pic.twitter.com/tyFl2LnRMP

Despite over 100 Republicans threatening to leave the party over Trump, President Biden, according to White House chief of staff Ron Klain, is anticipating a rematch against his predecessor.
In an interview with Axios, Klain said that Biden knows a rematch “is a very real possibility.”
Trump is the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican nomination again in 2024 should he decide to run, and a handful of washed-up ‘losers’ like McMullin and Taylor aren’t going to change that.
