Report: Biden Anticipating A Rematch Against Trump In 2024

President Joe Biden is anticipating a 2024 rematch against Donald Trump, according to comments made by White House chief of staff Ron Klain.

In an interview with Axios, Klain said that the President knows a rematch “is a very real possibility.”

“I wouldn’t want to estimate or underestimate Donald Trump as an opponent if he chooses to run,” added Biden’s top aide.

Trump would be 78-years-old and Biden would be 81 if the two were to run again in 2024.

A national poll conducted last month showed support for a rematch hovering in the mid to low-30s percentage-wise with more Trump voters wanting him to run than Biden voters wanting the Democrat to run.

Both men have expressed interest in running again for the White House in 2024.

While many had suspected President Biden would only serve one term and serve as a ‘transitional’ president, he has maintained he anticipates serving two.

“My plan is to run for reelection, that’s my expectation,” he said at a press conference earlier this year.

“I said that’s my expectation,” added Biden. “Look, I don’t understand where you guys come from. … I’m a great respecter of fate, I’m not going to be able to plan 3 1/2 years ahead for certain.”

Trump meanwhile, has been dropping hints periodically and at least insisting he is considering another campaign.

“I think people are going to be very, very happy when I make a certain announcement,” he teased in an interview with conservative commentator, Candace Owens.

Running On Their Records

Aides to both Biden and Trump indicate they look forward to putting each candidate’s record on the line should they face off again in 2024.

“My experience … is that incumbent presidents are judged on their record,” Klain said in the Axios interview.

“President Trump had a bad record in 2020,” he added. “Joe Biden is hopefully assembling a powerful record to run on if he runs for reelection in 2024.”

Jason Miller, a senior adviser to Trump, countered that Klain would be wise to tamp down expectations.

“If he and Biden keep screwing up the economy like last week’s abysmal jobs numbers, Democrats might not even let Biden be their nominee next time,” he warned.

Miller is referencing the April jobs report which fell cataclysmically below expectations, forcing Biden to address the nation and plead for more time in recovering from the pandemic.

With businesses opening back up across the country, even in blue state strongholds, experts had predicted as many as one million jobs created in April.

Instead, only 266,000 jobs were created and the unemployment rate rose slightly to 6.1%.

The economy under Trump was booming at historic levels for all Americans until the Dr. Fauci-led lockdowns were initiated at the height of the pandemic.
