A group apparently comprised of Cuban-Americans heckled House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi at a campaign event for fellow Democrat Donna Shalala in South Florida.
The group took umbrage with the fact that California Rep. Barbara Lee had been scheduled to join the lawmakers at Shalala’s campaign office.
Lee has been a noted sympathizer of the late Cuban dictator, Fidel Castro. The congresswoman took the occasion of his death to praise Castro, calling him a global leader who deserves to be mourned.
“We need to stop and pause and mourn his loss,” she said, adding he was a “smart man” who “led a revolution in Cuba that led social improvements for his people.”
Turns out, Cuban-Americans, those who had to flee the Castro regime which, as President Trump accurately explained, included a legacy “of firing squads, theft, unimaginable suffering, poverty and the denial of fundamental human rights,” don’t take all that kindly to people who praise such an evil man.

Lee loves Castro
Aside from getting a massive case of the sads over his death, Lee met with Fidel Castro at his home in 2009 and praised President Obama for normalizing relations with the Cuban dictator.
“He looks great, energetic, clear-thinking, talkative … he’s doing a lot of writing and talked a lot about the new president,” Lee fawned over Castro at the time. “He thinks (Obama) is smart, intelligent, a good person and good for America.”
Darrell Issa, years later, has a better assessment of Castro, one that seems more in sync with this week’s protesters in Florida.
“Fidel Castro was a tyrant, murderer, liar, and evil despot,” he said. “History will remember him as nothing more.”

Angry crowd of Cuban dissidents
A crowd that started at roughly 15 people swelled to about 40 at Shalala’s campaign office. They began shouting profanities at Pelosi as she tried to enter a side door, while others began banging on the doors.
Shouts of “brujas” – or witches – rained down on the Democrats.
Maria Elvira Salazar, Shalala’s Republican opponent, said: “It is shameful that a candidate from District 27 would bring a supporter of the Castro regime to campaign with her.”
Salazar indicated it was a slap in the face to those “who are suffering as a result of the Castro regime.”
To be clear, harassing someone while they work or in public is not the way to go.
That said, these protesters are doing nothing more than following the lead of Pelosi and her party who have encouraged harassment and violent mob behavior by their supporters.
It all started with another California Democrat, Maxine Waters, who said Trump supporters should be subject to constant harassment.
If you see them “in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd and you push back on them, and you tell them they’re not welcome anymore, anywhere,” she said.
Looks like Pelosi, Lee, and Shalala got a little taste of Auntie Maxine’s own medicine.
