Senator Rand Paul Says He Is More With Bernie Sanders on Health Care Than GOP

How do you know when your political party has lost its way? When libertarian senator Rand Paul publicly sides with socialist Bernie Sanders, look out.

Before you burn your Rand Paul t-shirts, you have to listen to his reasoning in the video below. He actually makes sense. And this might be the only time I ever somewhat agree with Bernie on anything.

Paul says the government should just give away free health care instead of giving money to the middle man [companies] who will continually ask for money down the road. In a meeting of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Paul asked, “[Insurance companies] make $15 billion a year…I don’t get it, why do you want to give money to the middle man?”

Then he dropped a truth bomb: “I’m more with Bernie on this than I am with members of my party who subsidize it! You want to buy people health care? Buy them health care.”

Watch Rand deliver his analysis here:

Is it conservative to have the government give out free health care? No, but it’s not conservative to give out subsidies to these companies that enrich themselves over consumers and patients.

Of course, I don’t believe Rand actually wants the government to give away free health care, but he was making a point here and I hope you are able to see it in the video above.
