Obama Flies Seven Planes to Global Warming Speech in Italy

Fresh off lecturing people about eating meat at a “global warming” conference in Milan, President Obama is back in Italy with Michelle for a vacation.

With that cool $3 million he made for his speech they will be staying in a private Tuscan village that typically goes for $15,000 a night. Yes, they seem to have acquired a taste for lavish vacations when he was in office.

But doesn’t it seem a bit, oh, I don’t know, hypocritical that Obama is going back and forth across the globe less than two weeks after a speech on global warming?

After all, the Obamas landed in Italy in a private jet escorted by 6 military jets.

He then drove off in a 13-car motorcade, of course, according to Heat Street:

In just his trip back and forth to Italy, for his presentation and his vacation, Barack Obama has emitted more than 16 metric tons of carbon – just shy of what an average American emits in a year. Add to that the motorcade, the internal travel in Italy, and, of course, the villa, and Obama and his wife have easily emitted more carbon in one single week than most Americans will in 2017.

Last week, Obama implored those same Americans – and their compatriots across Europe – to cut down on their carbon emissions in order to draw global warming to a standstill.

“When it comes to climate change, the hour is almost upon us,” Obama told the audience at his IIPS keynote. “I do not believe that this planet is condemned to ever-rising temperatures. I believe these are problems that were caused by man and can be solved by man.”

I think it’s time Obama took the words of Michael Jackson’s song “Man in the Mirror” to heart:

I’m starting with the man in the mirror
I’m asking him to change his ways
And no message could have been any clearer
If you wanna make the world a better place
Take a look at yourself and then make a change

Obama, you, more than literally almost anybody else on the planet, can make the biggest difference in cutting carbon emissions by cutting out all your travels. Why don’t you do your part for the planet, sir?
