New York Democratic Rep. Nydia Velazquez threatened a pro-Trump teen pundit on social media, telling him he’s “right to be afraid of us” and “you should learn my name.”
The teenager, CJ Pearson, noted a woman sitting next to Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during the President’s State of the Union speech and joked that she kept trying to look away from the socialist who was repeatedly taking cues on when she should or should not clap.
Pearson had a brief bout of fame when he posted a YouTube video as a twelve-year-old calling out Barack Obama for politicizing the shooting at the Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina, and using that as a means to further gun control.
So, he does have some name recognition of his own, with nearly a quarter of a million followers on Twitter. Velazquez, meanwhile, has less than 3,000. That didn’t stop her from essentially pulling the ‘do you know who I am’ card. But, things got a little dicey when she warned Pearson that he should be afraid of her and her colleagues.
Hi @TheCJPearson, I’m not “the woman sitting next to her”. @AOC and I — and millions like us — are the future of this country. And you’re right to be afraid of us.
But you should learn my name. https://t.co/frL8ikNDcV

People Were Disturbed
Why Velazquez decided she had to respond to a teenager on social media who had just made a harmless joke and observation is anyone’s guess.
Many followers found the exchange to be somewhat unsettling and a sign of concern for Velazquez’s stability.
lol, did you just say that we should be afraid of our elected representatives?? If you believe that, you have no business holding office.

“Be afraid of us” is not the type of message one wants to hear from government officials. https://t.co/4drBJDbTzL

United States Citizens should NEVER fear politicians. This tweet is deeply disturbing.

Pearson responded to Velazquez’s threat by Wednesday morning, noting that he’s not afraid of the female lawmakers, but he is afraid of their radical socialist policies that will do untold harm to the nation.
I’m sorry, Congresswoman, but as @realDonaldTrump said – socialism will NOT be the future of this country.
And Nydia, nothing about you nor @AOC scares me. It’s your policies- that jeopardize the stability of our nation and the future of my generation- that scare me. https://t.co/UjHHwSaCpv

Not the First Time Velazquez Has Been Embarrassed
Congresswoman Velazquez previously saw her fair share of embarrassment when she took part in a press conference for an Iraqi immigrant who had been detained in 2017.
The media, who had been lying about the President’s ban on immigration from countries harboring terrorists, tried to bait him into badmouthing Trump. Instead, he said he ‘likes’ the President, to which Velazquez’s face became an instant case of the “sads.”

Velazquez also shamed herself by claiming “a room of men have no business undermining a woman’s unconditional right to choose” … except for Governor Andrew Cuomo who just made it legal to terminate a baby up until the moment of birth.
Now she’s graduated to threatening teenagers. Stay classy, woman best known for sitting next to Ocasio-Cortez.
