Media Asks Detained Iraqi Man at Airport About Trump and Gets a Surprise Answer

The media got quite the surprise when they tried to bait an Iraqi immigrant into attacking Trump over the weekend. The man was detained at JFK airport under President Trump’s Executive Order temporarily limiting immigration from terror-prone nations.

Hameed Khalid Darweeshan, an interpreter who worked for more than a decade on behalf of the United States government in Iraq, was released after being detained for 19 hours.

The media swarmed him upon his release, probably expecting him to be furious with America and the President. After all, they had been lying about the Executive Order being a “Muslim ban.”

It was when he was asked about his feelings toward President Trump that things really backfired. The reporter, surely expecting some sort of animosity towards the President for what Darweeshan had just endured, asked “What do you think about Donald Trump?”

What followed shocked the media and Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez who was standing beside the Iraqi man.

“I like him,” he said.

Notice Velazquez began shaking her head ‘no’ before Darweeshan began speaking, almost as if she were trying to say ‘for the love of God, don’t say anything positive about Trump.’

Via Gateway Pundit:

What is so striking about this is that an Iraqi man who was detained and questioned by customs agents showed more respect and gratitude to the American people and our President than the leftists do in America. He’s right! America is the greatest nation with the greatest people in the world and that is because we are a free nation, a free people.

Interestingly enough, a good portion of the media outlets in attendance neglected to report that Darweeshan said that he liked Trump, even despite being unsure of the policy that led to his detention.

Wouldn’t want to give the President even a whiff of positive press, after all!
