Fox News Reiterates Kimberly Guilfoyle Under ‘Long-Term’ Contract

On Tuesday, it was reported that popular Fox News anchor Kimberly Guilfoyle was in serious talks to leave the network and replace Sean Spicer as White House Press Secretary.

Guilfoyle, who is a former prosecutor, has been with Fox News since 2006 and currently is one of the co-hosts of the popular prime time show “The Five.” For months, Guilfoyle has been rumored to join the Trump administration, and was an early contender for press secretary immediately following Donald Trump’s victory.

As the rumors surrounding Ms. Guilfoyle’s future at Fox News continue to swirl, the cable network has decided to respond, issuing a statement reiterating that she has a “long term” contract with the network and won’t be going anywhere soon.

In an interview with the Mercury News, Guilfoyle acknowledged that working for President Trump would be a “fascinating job” noting that while it would be a “challenging job” she’s a “patriot, and it would be an honor to serve the country.”

From Politico:

“Kimberly is a valued member of the FOX News primetime lineup, and is under a long-term contract with the network,” a network spokesperson said in a statement.

According to a source with direct knowledge of the situation, Guilfoyle’s contract was renegotiated when the show she co-hosts, ‘The Five’ was moved to 9p.m. following the departure of anchor Bill O’Reilly and a shakeup of the primetime lineup. It’s not clear if the contract was re-signed well before Guilfoyle’s remarks to the Bay Area News Group or after. A Fox executive said Guilfoyle did not re-negotiate her contract in the wake of O’Reilly’s departure and that she signed a long-term deal prior to this.”

If Guilfoyle were to leave Fox News, she would not be the first person to leave the network to join the Trump administration. Several weeks ago, Fox’s Heather Nauert left the network to become the State Department spokesperson.

Fox News contributor Monica Crowley also became a member of Trump’s National Security Council, but was forced to resign after allegations of plagiarism surfaced. Fox News’ K.T. McFarland also left her job with the network to serve as Deputy National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, but after his departure she is set to become the Ambassador to Singapore.

If Guilfoyle were to leave Fox News, her years of television experience would be a valuable asset when doing battle with the liberal media on a daily basis. President Trump is known to be a fan of Ms. Guilfoyle, and her experience as both a prosecutor and cable news host would be crucial in a White House communications role.

Unlike other Fox News personalities that have left the network to work in the White House, Guilfoyle has the largest public profile, and her departure would be a major blow to the network which has already lost several other hosts in recent months.

With the rumors surrounding Guilfoyle’s potential role in the Trump administration existing since December, it seems that Fox News was wise to have her commit to a new contract with the network to keep their star from leaving.

Do you think Guilfoyle will remain with Fox, or will she break her contract to serve in the Trump administration? Share your thoughts below!
