Illegal Immigrants Can Now Practice Law in America

We’ve all heard the argument that illegal immigrants take American jobs – and how could they not? While liberals will claim that illegals do the jobs that Americans “just won’t do,” I’m wondering how it’s possible that there are between 10-15 million jobs that Americans are unwilling to do. While they may have a view of illegals as those cleaning toilets, gardening, or farming, those are hardly the only forms of employment that illegals enjoy in America.

How could illegals NOT be taking American jobs, and putting downward pressure on economic workers? If ten people were applying to a job with ten open spots, then ten additional applications joined the applicant pool, what do you think would happen? Some of the initial ten who would’ve otherwise got jobs wouldn’t – and the employer would have more leverage to offer lower wages.

And for some reason, thanks to the American Bar Association, there’s a new industry our nation’s illegals can find employment in.

The American Bar Association House of Delegates passed a resolution Monday recommending that illegal immigrants who wish to take the bar exam and practice law should not be dismissed because of their immigration status.

“RESOLVED, That the American Bar Association supports the principle that bar admission should not be denied based solely on immigration status,” the resolution stated. According to the ABA’s news release, the resolution passed with modest opposition.

And it didn’t stop there. The delegates took it a step further, urging Congress to amend federal code 8 U.S.C. § 1621(d), which addresses a state’s “authority to provide for eligibility of illegal aliens for State and local public benefits” and specifies that undocumented residents may not obtain professional licenses issued by state governments.

The ABA called on Congress to allow undocumented residents who are pursuing legal status to be eligible for all the benefits and rights addressed in the code subchapter.

“A state court vested with exclusive authority to regulate admission to the bar may, by rule, order, or other affirmative act, permit an undocumented alien seeking legal status to obtain a professional license to practice law in that jurisdiction.”

This, of course, makes no sense. Illegal immigrants, by definition, are lawbreakers. You wouldn’t hire a convicted murderer to be police officer. Why would you hire a proven lawbreaker to be a practitioner of the law? In liberal logic, however, it makes perfect sense.

Illegal immigrants in charge of the law? What could possibly go wrong?
