Suspicious Activity Near White House in Lafayette Park, Suspect in Custody

The White House was placed on lockdown this morning after reports of suspicious activity just outside the president’s residence. The cause for concern was in Lafayette Park, which is directly across from the White House’s North Lawn.

The U.S. Secret Service tweeted the following:

Right now, it’s unclear who the “subject” is.

Currently, Pennsylvania Avenue and Lafayette Park are closed to pedestrians.

What’s strange about this incident is the timing: It occurred just minutes before President Trump left for his big trip to Asia. The president tweeted about his travels this morning:

There are rumors that a man with explosives was plotting something in the Park:

If someone had explosives outside of the White House, there’s no telling what they could have gotten away with had Secret Service not stepped in. We’re only days away from the one year anniversary of Election Day 2016. The air is tense right now. Hillary supporters and Antifa members are still aggrieved that Donald Trump won the election.  Many are plotting big demonstrations this Saturday in cities across the country. Demonstrators have one explicit goal on Saturday: Remove Donald Trump from office by any means necessary.

This is scary stuff and shows just how radical and violent the left is willing to go to stop our president.

Again, we don’t know if this incident has anything to do with all of the anti-Trump vitriol that is being spread by liberals. It could be an isolated incident. A Secret Service investigation will hopefully get to the bottom of what really went on.

The lockdown was reportedly lifted just over an hour ago: “Those within the White House were instructed not to leave while the investigation remains ongoing, the Associated Press reports. The lockdown has been lifted, the Associated Press confirmed at approximately 10:51 a.m. Friday.”

This is a developing story. Refresh for updates.
