Guess What You’ll See First in Trump’s White House This Christmas

President Trump is bringing back the phrase “Merry Christmas” this season, and the First Lady is keeping a tight focus on our men and women in the military.

One of the first things visitors will see upon entering the East Wing of the White House is what is known as the Gold Star Family Tree.

“This year’s theme, ‘Time-Honored Traditions,’ includes a tribute to service members with the Gold Star Family Tree,” the White House website announced. It includes “historic pieces celebrating the holiday tradition of dining and hospitality, and a nod to the first themed White House Christmas, the ‘Nutcracker Suite’ in 1961.”

The Gold Star Family Tree was officially unveiled by First Lady Melania Trump as “a tribute to our service members and their families.”

The tree “has been decorated with gold stars and patriotic ribbon,” the White House announced. “Visitors are encouraged to write a message to their loved ones who are on duty or abroad on the digital tablets provided.”

The messages will be delivered swiftly to those military members unable to be home this Christmas.

Previous administrations have had the Gold Star tree as part of their holiday decor, but Melania’s placement of the tree as the first thing visitors will see sends a clear message to the families of fallen military members – you are the most important people to remember this Christmas.

In unveiling the White House Christmas decorations, Melania invited children to create Christmas cards for members of the military.

The entire experience overwhelmed one young boy who exclaimed that Melania looked “beautiful, like an angel!”

An angel who cares deeply about our military members. She is truly a breath of fresh air in this White House.
