On Monday, First Lady Melania Trump invited students from Joint Base Andrews to be the first guests to see the new White House Christmas decorations – and one enchanted child proclaimed that Melania looked “beautiful, like an angel!”

The First Lady made quite the entrance to greet her guests, taking the grand staircase into the foyer, where three ballerinas danced to “The Nutcracker Suite.” Notably, “The Nutcracker” was the first theme used at a White House Christmas.

This year’s theme is “Time-Honored Traditions.” Each room in the White House pays homage to a different tradition, including a Gold Star tree, a gingerbread house, and a gallery of paper silhouettes of past presidents.

In keeping with these traditions, Melania invited the children to craft gumdrop Christmas trees, cut their own paper silhouettes, and write Christmas cards to members of the military.

“Time-Honored Traditions” was the perfect theme for this year’s White House Christmas, and Melania has executed it beautifully.
