CNN FINALLY Stops Covering Russia

Thank God CNN didn’t exist when Amelia Earhart made the voyage in which she disappeared – because I swear to God, CNN would still be covering it.

After all, remember their relentless coverage of the missing Malaysian flight back in 2014? Their endless coverage entertained all possibilities for the plane’s disappearance (mainly because it took up more airtime, I suppose). Among the theories that seriously made it on the air were that perhaps the plane was sucked into a black hole, or was abducted in some other kind of supernatural event. An anonymous CNN executive eventually told the New York Times he “acknowledged this was not really a story where reporters have been able to advance the known facts much.”

While the story was getting ratings however, that didn’t matter. The “Malaysia” story incredibly doubled the network’s ratings (OK – maybe a doubling of ratings isn’t that hard when you have an audience the size of CNN…..).

During the 2016 election (and months following), Russia has become the new Malaysian flight. Was there a single shred of evidence that the Trump campaign (or Trump himself) had colluded with the Russian government? Of course not, but that didn’t prevent them from tapping into the creativity that allowed them to cover the story of a missing airplane we knew nothing about for 24 hours a way.

Did they know it was all BS? Of course – but the ratings certainly were not. This isn’t me bashing CNN with my own personal opinion either – James O’Keefe’s undercover reporting proved that CNN’s executives knew the story was nonsense.

Perhaps CNN’s audience is finally getting tired of the conspiracy theories, because the network is finally calling it quits on the story.

According to the Daily Caller, CNN executives have told their investigative team to stop looking into potential ties between the Trump administration and Russia. This came not longafter three of their journalists resigned in June in disgrace thanks to major reporting errors related to their Russia coverage.

Executives transferred all reporting duties associated with the Trump-Russia narrative to CNN’s Washington, D.C. team in the wake of a retracted June report, members of the CNN staff told The New York Times.

The report in question was removed from CNN’s website after the network admitted it could not stand by information that tied then Trump advisor Anthony Scaramucci to a Russian investment bank under Senate sanctions.

Well it’s about time they gave the story up.

What bogus narrative will they endlessly push next? Be sure to place some bets in the comments section below!
