Voting is underway in Indiana, where Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and the GOP establishment are making what some call their “last stand” to stop conservative businessman Donald J. Trump from winning the Republican nomination.
While most recent polls have Trump winning the state comfortably, nothing is certain in this wild election cycle.
Ted Cruz has already stated repeatedly that he will stay in the Republican race no matter what happens in Indiana, but that was before this:
That’s a rally Cruz held today at the Indiana State Fair Grounds. It’s possible that, after Trump’s overwhelming victories in the Northeast recently, Cruz supporters and other Republicans view The Donald as “inevitable.”
And the news only gets worse for Senator Cruz. A new national poll shows Donald Trump leading the Republican pack at a whopping 56%, and Cruz trailing at a distant 22%.
But the most devastating news comes from California – where the latest poll shows Trump beating Cruz by over 30 points – which just might give Trump the 1,237 delegates he needs to secure the Republican nomination before the conventions later this summer in Cleveland, Ohio.
It’s clear that the momentum is shifting further towards Donald Trump – but we may just get a surprise in Indiana and a whole new ball game.
What do you think? Will Cruz upset Trump in Indiana, or is the race essentially over? Let us know!
