Vivek Ramaswamy Says Stop Using Phrase ‘People Of Color’: ‘We Are Americans, Period’

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy called for people to stop using the phrase "people of color," suggesting it promotes unnecessary racial strife.

Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy called for people to stop using the phrase “people of color,” suggesting it promotes unnecessary racial conflict.

Ramaswamy, the biotech entrepreneur who has made waves in the GOP primary with his brash declarations and outright denouncements of the weaponized administration of President Joe Biden, made the comments on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“It’s time to stop saying ‘People of Color,'” he wrote. “It’s meaningless to classify people by skin color. It needlessly pits ‘whites’ against ‘nonwhites.'”

“In the USA, we are Americans,” Ramaswamy proclaimed. “Period.”

The comments come in stark contrast to a Democrat President who has hired, promoted, and justified nearly every political platform through a lens of race.

Ramaswamy Says ‘People of Color’ Is Divisive

Ramaswamy’s views on the phrase “people of color” might seem to have come out of the blue, but they follow a column in the New York Times that highlights his pride in his family’s Indian heritage, which he also doesn’t let define him.

He told the outlet that he “does not identify as an Indian American.”

Ramaswamy describes his Hindu religion and Indian background as “part of my cultural identity, for sure, and I’m proud of that and very comfortable with that,” but adding, “I’m an American first.”

Imagine that. A politician who wants to speak to voters in terms of them being American, not by breaking them down into demographic blocs for him to patronize.

The New York Times states that Ramaswamy “says the celebration of diversity in America has come at the cost of national unity.”

Ramaswamy Calls Out Quiet Racism On The Left

Ramaswamy has shown time and again that he is unwilling to back down when it comes to calling out quiet racism coming from the left.

As reported earlier this week by The Political Insider, he hammered former Democratic National Committee Chair Donna Brazile for mispronouncing his name and telling him to “shut the hell up” and “go home”.

Democrats and the media have made it clear that mispronouncing Vice President Kamala Harris’s name is, in fact, racist. But when it comes to Vivek, the left just laughs about it.

Ramaswamy also took a stance in which he deemed affirmative action to be wrong, explaining so after the Supreme Court ruled against the racist policy earlier this year.

“Everyone agrees that affirmative action in the NBA would ruin basketball, and affirmative action in the NFL would ruin football,” he posted on X. “Turns out that affirmative action in engineering & medicine has a similar effect: this should surprise no one.”

The latest RealClearPolitics average of polls puts Ramaswamy at 4.7% in the GOP primary, well behind former President Donald Trump and trailing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley.
