Last week, the Department of Justice finally admitted that the IRS unfairly targeted Tea Party groups under Barack Obama. Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced that the IRS had agreed to a settlement with the groups that were improperly targeted.

This admission of guilt was certainly a long time coming. However, Republican lawmakers want more than just a halfhearted apology. On Monday, Rep. Vern Buchanan, chairman of the oversight subcommittee responsible for the IRS, called for the DOJ to revisit prosecuting IRS official Lois Lerner, who in 2013 was the head of the division responsible for handling applications for nonprofit status.
“Lerner betrayed the nation’s trust yet managed to avoid prosecution,” Buchanan said. “Heads should roll and people should be held accountable for this gross abuse of power.”
“An apology five years after the fact is not good enough,” he added.
The IRS targeted Americans yet agency officials avoided prosecution.
That’s not right. Heads should roll… #sayfie https://t.co/aX2EdhyQv3

In September, the DOJ said it would not prosecute Lerner after reviewing her case. The decision enraged Republicans, and now that the IRS has finally admitted its guilt, the call for Lerner’s head has been renewed.
I’m glad Trump’s DOJ forced the IRS to pay up & apologize to those targeted
But Lois Lerner should be in jail & the IRS Dir should be fired

And Lois Lerner gets what???????? https://t.co/2HIEaj1dXk

Not good enough – Lois Lerner needs to be prosecuted

So, is Lois Lerner giving back that taxpayer-funded pension? ‘Cause, I would like a refund now.

Just as Buchanan said, Lerner betrayed our nation’s trust and colluded with the FBI and DOJ to silence Obama’s opponents. She should be behind bars, but instead she’s living like a fat cat with her $100,000/year pension. If the Administration took half the effort they were putting into the Russia investigation and applied it to Lerner, she would have been behind bars a long time ago.
